Highland Cross, Rutherford, NJ

In 1998, LEG was appointed by the New Jersey Meadowlands Commission (NJMC) and the Borough of Rutherford as redeveloper for a 30-acre brownfield site in Rutherford, N.J.
Working with the state Department of Environmental Protection (DEP), LEG developed and implemented a 5-year Remedial Action Work Plan (RAWP) resulting in the receipt of a “No Further Action Letter (NFA),” and successfully completed a wetlands mitigation program.
In conjunction with the NJMC, LEG wrote the Highland Cross Redevelopment Plan, which includes zoning for two 500,000-square-foot office towers and a 220-room hotel. LEG is currently working with the NJMC to complete a zoning overlay to accommodate a mixed-use development comprised of residential, retail, and hotel use.
